There are two main stages of focus, as the economists would say, focusing on the large volume or on the large revenue. Maintaining both in the highly competitive car market is almost impossible and not achievable at the current stage.

Mercedes-Benz plans to focus on the production of the compact models like the A-, B-, CLA-and GLA-class. It was shown in the market researches, that these models are currently the most popular ones among the public. However, investors are convinced that since these models are the least expensive in the line of the brand, then the profits from their sales will be minimal, less than, for example, from sales of the C-, E-and S-class. However, as the smart people from the Mercedes company admit, that they are not giving up the production of any model, they are just trying to refocus their recourses to make them more useful.

Analysts, in turn, said that the company is in the decline, as the maturity stage of Mercedes has gone through already. According to Arndt Ellinghorsta of Credit Suisse, Mercedes can only achieve one purpose: either increase sales or increase revenue. Experts from Deutsche Bank do not believe in the success of company as well.
