Mercedes Calls Back Some of Its Cars

December 24, 2012 at 05:08

Sometimes there are situations even on big and international car manufacturing companies, which need the timely headquarters intervention. Even though it may seem that the reputation of the Mercedes will fall because of this case, it is not fully true, because it shows that the company cares about its clients and want to compensate any mistake that might have happened there. So, Mercedes calls back 15,000 cars because of failed rugs. The company found defective car mats, which were offered as an option extra for the new generation of Mercedes-Benz M-Class 2012 and 2013 model years.

All in all, as there were 15000 versions of the Mercedes M-class cars with such rugs sold to the public. The company was quite lucky that they found defective car mats quite early on the selling period. Currently we know of this number, but some critics say that it can be even bigger, though we hope not. At the same time it is not a bad thing, if the customers will be offered better quality cars in the end.

The problem is trivial: the engineers made a little mistake in the design of the rug and it touches the gas pedal while driving, which can lead to spontaneous acceleration and, as a consequence, to an accident. In Mercedes they claim that no incident of faulty floor mats were recorded, but far away from the mats they still have decided to replace them with the ‘right’ ones.
