Prototype of Mercedes-Benz CLE-Class spotted for the first time

The successor of Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class will change the name and will be called CLE-Class, pointing to the E-Class family. New model may appear at the end of 2017. It is the first time when the prototype of new car was seen on the road. Novelty is heavily camouflaged, but it can be already seen attractive LED headlights.

Looking at the profile, you can get an idea about the last Mercedes designers’ vision of a four-door coupe. The car has received such distinctive features as the arched roof, sloping hood and blunt front. The trunk looks a little bit strange; it is not fitting to the overall car’s structure, but may be it is additional hiding body panel.

By the time of the Mercedes-Benz CLE-Class release, you can expect the appearance of the promised new in-line 6-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, including the 3.0-liter petrol version with capacity more than 408 hp (300 kW) and 500 Newton Meters of torque. Diesel engine will be able to generate around 313 hp (230 kW). Most likely, there will be also “charged” version AMG. Development of versatile, successor of CLS Shooting Brake is not planned.
