Mercedes CLS will get powerful motors

Mercedes CLS sedan of the third generation will make its debut in December at the Auto Show in Los Angeles. However, the Company already shared some technical features of the upcoming novelty. It became known that CLS will be supplied by exclusively powerful petrol, diesel and hybrid power plants. The least productive version will get 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel with the 245-hp output.

The hybrid modification will be equipped by electric motor and gasoline supercharged V4 2.0. This aggregate generates 300 horses. V6 sedans are with 2.9-liter turbo-motors. The most powerful Mercedes CLS will be a variant with a 435-hp hybrid power unit. By default, the Mercedes CLS will be mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. In the list of standard equipment there are 18-inch light-alloy wheels. 19 or 20-inche can also be offered for extra charge.

The novelty is built on the MRA modular platform with rear- and four-wheel drive. Initially, the new CLS will receive a passive suspension (a two-lever in the front and a multi-link at rear). The interior is absolutely new. The new architecture, fittings and equipment are borrowed from the current E- and S-class models. Mercedes CLS will go on sale in the European market in 2018.
