Mercedes-Benz will develop the chassis for electric coupe

Mercedes-Benz is going to develop a unique architecture for electric models, including, for crossovers. In the near future leadership of the German mark must give the “green light” to the project, which will be spent around two billion euros. At the moment, the new platform is known as the internal name of «Ecoluxe». As expected, the chassis, which will be provided for two different sizes, form the basis of a minimum of four models.
The first novelty will appear in late 2019 or early 2020. According to preliminary data, it would be coupe like looking crossover with length of about five meters, which will be available with five- and seven-seat interior.

Ecoluxe S version will receive two electric motors 408 and 136 horsepower at the rear and front axle, respectively (total returns – 544 powers).

Masthead option of crossover – GT – equip 612-strong power plant (408 and 204 power front and rear, respectively). Reserve batteries, which will be located at the bottom of the crossover, enough for 450 kilometers. Other details are kept secret.

Earlier it was reported that the leadership of “Mercedes” is considering the construction of a compact electric car that could compete for buyers with BMW i3. It is possible that a prototype of the new model will be presented in 2015.
